POPIA disclosure
x10maths ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the personal information of our website visitors, prospective clients, learners and parents in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 ("POPIA") of the Republic of South Africa.
This notice explains what personal information we collect through x10maths.com, why we collect it, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and what your rights are.
1. Who is the responsible party?
The responsible party (controller) for the personal information collected through this website is x10maths. You can contact us at any time about your information at:

2. What information do we collect?
When you complete the enquiry form on the Contact page, we collect:
Information about you (the enquirer)
- Your first name and surname
- Your phone number
- Your email address
- Your relationship to the learner (parent, guardian, the learner themselves, or other)
Information about the learner
- The learner's name
- The learner's grade
- The learner's school
- The subject(s) you are enquiring about (Mathematics, Physical Science, or both)
- Any optional message you choose to add
Technical information
Our infrastructure provider (Cloudflare) automatically processes your IP address and browser request headers as part of delivering this website and protecting it from abuse. This is standard for any website. We use Cloudflare Turnstile on the enquiry form to verify that submissions are not from automated bots.
3. Why do we collect it? (Purpose & lawful basis)
We collect this information for one purpose only: to respond to your enquiry about tuition services and, if you choose to proceed, to arrange and deliver those services.
The lawful bases under POPIA on which we rely are:
- Consent: when you tick the consent box on the enquiry form;
- Performance of a contract or steps prior to entering into a contract: when you ask us to provide tuition services or to give you a quote;
- Legitimate interest: in protecting our website from fraud and abuse (e.g. via Turnstile bot detection).
4. Information about minors
We recognise that learners are typically under the age of 18 and are considered children under POPIA. We only process information about a learner where it has been provided to us by a parent or legal guardian, or by the learner with the consent of a competent person (parent or guardian). If you are under 18 and submitting the enquiry form yourself, please do so only with your parent or guardian's permission.
5. Who do we share it with?
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not share it with marketing partners. We share it only with the following operators (third parties processing data on our behalf), and only to the extent necessary:
- Cloudflare, Inc. — hosts our website (Cloudflare Pages), processes form submissions (Cloudflare Workers), provides bot protection (Turnstile), and delivers the resulting email to us (Cloudflare Email Sending).
- Microsoft Corporation — operates the Microsoft 365 mailbox at which we receive and store the enquiry email.
These operators are bound to process your information only on our instructions and to apply appropriate security safeguards.
6. Cross-border transfer
Cloudflare's infrastructure is global. Your information may therefore be processed at data centres outside South Africa. We rely on Cloudflare's contractual safeguards and certifications, which provide a level of protection comparable to that required by POPIA.
7. How long do we keep it?
We retain enquiry information only for as long as is necessary for the purpose for which it was collected:
- If you do not become a client, we delete enquiry information within 12 months of the date of submission.
- If you become a client, we retain the information for the duration of the engagement and for a period of up to 5 years thereafter for legitimate business and tax record-keeping purposes.
8. How do we keep it safe?
Your enquiry is transmitted over an encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connection. We follow generally accepted technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure — including access controls on email, strong passwords, and bot mitigation on our forms.
9. Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to:
- Be told what personal information we hold about you;
- Request a copy of that information;
- Request that we correct or delete it where appropriate;
- Object to the processing of your information;
- Withdraw your consent at any time (without affecting processing already done on the basis of your consent);
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za.

10. Cookies
This website does not set marketing or analytics cookies. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary cookies for security and bot protection purposes (for example, the Turnstile widget on the enquiry form). These cookies cannot be disabled without breaking the protective functionality of the site.

We may update this notice from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page tells you when it was most recently changed. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
